Jaded in Fantasy: Art Show

“Jaded in Fantasy” was a fifty-one piece show that features my work from 2015 to my current work in 2018. While the show was not a series, the work depicts an exploration of a common theme— fantasy.

Jaded in Fantasy took place from October 15th to the 25th. The show had a variety of media. Watercolor, digital, acrylic, red clay, and plaster. While the show had a few artworks that have been shown before, for the mass majority, this was their first time in the limelight. The show was originally only supposed to last one week. It was extended into the next week. So the show had two closing receptions on accident! That’s why this poster says the original dates.

The name of the show comes from a philosophy that in my exploration of art, I have become increasingly interested in escapism. This escapism that I experience no longer surprises me. I have become accustomed to fantasy and am very comfortable with it. When I experienced the real world I try to see things differently. I cannot help it. With each thing I experience in the real world, I create an alternate experience through my art. Basically, that is what this show is about; a new way of looking at things, by looking a little deeper, and looking with imagination.
